Icons of Rome - Urban Stories in Graphic Design

Rome is a city that never ceases to amaze - because, although it is famous throughout the world for its iconic monuments and its thousand-year history, there are lesser-known facets, rich in art, design and contemporary culture.

It is precisely this Rome, authentic and vibrant, that the cultural program Icons of Rome aims to tell, offering a new vision of the Capital.

Created by 4L Collection Hotels with the patronage of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Rome, ADI Association for Industrial Design and Quasar Institute for Advanced Design, Icons of Rome is a project that combines art, design and photography, far from tourist stereotypes and the most popular circuits. Curated by journalist Isabella Clara Sciacca, the program explores the contemporary face of the city, the one that mixes with tradition, creating new spaces for reflection and dialogue.

Three distinct events, all free to enter and all hosted in the hospitality and conference facilities of 4L Collection Hotels, celebrate places, languages and emblematic cultural elements of the Eternal City, through design, art and photography exhibitions with the aim of giving a new, current reading far from the clichés of urban identity and of restoring a contemporary and vibrant image of the city. Each event is accompanied by an in-depth talk with the creatives involved, as well as with authoritative figures from the world of design, art, information and culture, which constitute the opportunity to trigger an open and fruitful dialogue with local talents.

With the Icons of Rome series of meetings, 4L Collection Hotels continues its scouting and research activity in the field of design, art, high-end craftsmanship, and Made in Italy, with the aim of promoting knowledge and valorization of the territory.

Alessandro, Beatrice and Laura Lazzarini, at the helm of 4L Collection Hotels, explain: “With this cultural project we want to give our contribution to the valorization of the city and its creative heritage, going beyond conventional images and offering new interpretations of the urban context. We believe in the importance of creating opportunities for dialogue and comparison between emerging talents and established figures in the world of design, art and culture, to generate a positive impact on the territory. We want to promote an idea of hospitality that is not limited to welcoming, but that stimulates the discovery and knowledge of Rome in all its nuances.”

Isabella Clara Sciacca, curator of the project, continues: “Icons of Rome was born from the idea of telling the story of the Capital in an authentic and contemporary way through design and art, to bring to light a new narrative about Rome, made up of places and creative activities that often escape attention, but which define the profound and authentic identity of the city and at the same time bring out and enhance some of the many talents that animate it.”

With Icons of Rome, Rome confirms itself as a dynamic and constantly evolving metropolis, capable of telling its story through new forms of cultural expression.
