Parco degli Acquedotti: where nature meets archaeology
The sunset here is magical, with nature blending with archaeology, creating a play of light and colors that make this hidden place a true rarity in the Eternal City…
Today we take you to the Parco degli Acquedotti, one of the green lungs of Rome, a true crossroads of the water network of Ancient Rome.
The Parco degli Acquedotti is, without a doubt, the perfect place for a relaxing walk, literally surrounded by history.
It was here, in fact, that in the 4th century BC, incredible works of civil engineering were built that contributed significantly to the growth and magnificence of Rome, bringing water to the innumerable fountains, public buildings, baths and noble palaces of the centre.
At the Parco degli Acquedotti we can find an extraordinary wealth of historical and archaeological evidence, ranging from the Roman Republican age through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Not surprisingly, next to the large green spaces of this idyllic corner of the Roman countryside there are also majestic villas that belonged to patrician families, as well as towers and rural farmhouses whose construction also used materials recovered from Roman ruins.
A place without doubt unmissable but still little known, a paradise of history and nature where to get lost among ancient arches, paths, fruit trees and enchanting views.
