Valentine’s Day in Rome: the Arco dei Banchi and the secret starry sky...
A romantic alley covered by a starry sky, set in the center of Rome...
This year, for the night of Valentine’s Day, we recommend a pearl of the Eternal City, almost unknown but definitely suggestive, in the city center but surrounded by a magical atmosphere and sometimes mysterious, which makes it a niche destination to discover.
We are a stone’s throw from Castel Sant'Angelo: here, hidden, there is the Arco dei Banchi, a small road that connects what is now known as Via del Banco di Santo Spirito with Via Paola.
During the Renaissance, the Arco dei Banchi was a very important street: here, in fact, all the financial activities of Rome were carried out. It was not by chance that the most famous banker of the city, Agostino Chigi, lived here at the time, setting up his banquet right under the arch.
It is a passage rich in history but also in mystery and memories: there is a plaque that recalls the oldest flood in Roman history, which occurred on November 7, 1277.
To complete this picture, also a mystical detail that gives an aura of peace: here, in the heart of the street, the image of a Madonna.
This is a little place that is still little frequented, perfect to surprise your better half during the most romantic day of the year.
